The intelligent load space concept
Having so much space for tools and materials brings with it a great deal
of responsibility. Thatʼs why the panel van is equipped with a full steel bulkhead
to shield the driver and front passenger from sliding loads and noise.
And the cargo can be secured by tensioning straps attached to load-securing rings fitted as standard on the load compartment floor. Options to secure cargo further include fixed securing rings or securing rings which can positioned at will along a rail fixed to the side walls.
In order to ensure the generous cargo space can be used to the maximum, two sliding side doors and twin rear doors with an opening angle of up to 180 degrees provide unrestricted access to the load compartment.
For relaxed and safe driving
The driver’s seat can be modified to suit personal seating needs and preferences, with adjustments possible both lengthways and for height. Thanks to the different settings possible, a comfortable seating position while driving is assured for the driver.
Above all, the ergonomically-shaped backrest gives lateral support, and with it comfort and safety.
Getting in and out of the van; loading and unloading: easy and convenient.
With their large opening angle, the front doors make getting in and out of the van easy.
With two side sliding doors as standard the Citan allows good access to the load compartment. The sliding doors can be unlocked by the vehicle key via radio remote control and then opened with a pulling motion to slide towards the rear of the vehicle until they lock. The maximum opening of 638 cm provides comfortable and spacious loading and unloading even in narrow side streets.
Twin rear doors or optional tailgate opens out wide for good accessibility
Thanks to its wide opening angle, the twin rear doors makes loading and unloading the vehicle easier, particularly if you have bulky goods, such as a europallet. The doors lock initially at 90 degrees, but by unlatching the door stop, they can be opened wider, to 180 degrees. The lower section of the twin doors is protected by a tough hardboard panel on the inside.
As an alternative to the standard-fit twin rear doors, the Mercedes-Benz Citan can optionally be fitted with a tailgate with a wide opening angle . The tailgate is opened from a door handle recess centred over the licence plate and can be opened upwards to an angle of approximately 90 degrees. It is fitted with a window and washer system as standard.
Driving dynamics & economy
Up to 65.7 mpg* – the Citan also sets a good example when it comes to fuel consumption .
The engine line-up has the right solution for every requirement profile.
Available only with front-wheel drive, there is a choice of a high-torque 75 hp (55 kW), 90 hp (66 kW) or 110 hp (81 kW) diesel powerplant or an advanced 114 hp (84 kW) petrol engine for the Citan panel van. The 110 hp (81 kW) and 114 hp (84 kW) engines are scheduled to be available from the latter part of 2013.
The advanced Citan engines meet the requirements of the Euro 5 emissions standard and, thanks to innovative BlueEFFICIENCY technologies, can help to boost your company’s level of economy .
Superior power transmission
Depending on it’s engine, the Citan panel van will either have a five or six-speed transmission with a joystick gearshift positioned within easy reach on the centre console.
The manual transmissions offer a high level of ride comfort and have a positive effect on fuel consumption.
Front-wheel drive, high traction and slope climbing ability
The Citan is only available with front-wheel drive. The small turning circle of 10.1 m (compact version) , 11.2 m (long version) or 12.4 m (extra-long version) makes for a more relaxing driving experience in urban traffic.
Scheduled to be available from 2nd quarter 2013.
A combination of driving dynamics, low fuel consumption and impressive handling makes driving fun: whether in busy city traffic ‒ where the Citan offers agility and a good turning circle ‒ or in the countryside or on the motorway when you can fully enjoy its traction.
All chassis components are carefully coordinated ‒ from the power steering to the spring and damper tuning or the rear axle guide. The result: no compromise on handling and motoring pleasure even when parking and manoeuvring, cornering or driving with heavy loads.
Measured for the Citan panel van, long version (A2), perm. GVW 1950 kg, 108 CDI and 109 CDI engine, with BlueEFFICIENCY.
 Tank capacity approx. 60 l.
BlueEFFICIENCY is either optional or standard depending on the vehicle variant chosen. BlueEFFICIENCY will be standard for the petrol-engined version, which is scheduled to be available from the 3rd quarter 2013.
