We currently have a position for a Service 24h Breakdown Technician working out of our Dunstable Depot.
As a S24h Breakdown Technician, you will be the first point of contact for customers experiencing vehicle breakdowns. Your primary responsibility is to provide rapid, professional roadside assistance and repairs for Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicles, ensuring minimal downtime and exceptional customer service. You will also handle warranty-related repairs in compliance with manufacturer’s standards.
Respond promptly to emergency breakdown calls, providing on-site diagnostics and repairs.
Ensure all repairs meet Mercedes-Benz standards for safety and quality.
Perform warranty repairs in accordance with Mercedes-Benz guidelines, ensuring accurate documentation and adherence to manufacturer policies.
Communicate effectively with customers, offering clear explanations of issues and solutions.
Maintain accurate records of work completed, parts used, and time spent.
Liaise with the workshop team for complex repairs requiring further attention.
Operate and maintain company-provided service vehicle and equipment.
Adhere to health, safety, and environmental regulations at all times.
Participate in ongoing technical training and certification programs.
Working in the workshop when not on call
Essential:
NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Light and Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair
Proven experience in commercial vehicle diagnostics and repair
Strong knowledge of Mercedes-Benz systems and technology
Knowledge of Mercedes-Benz systems and processes
Valid IVR qualification
Full UK driving license (HGV license preferred)
Ability to work independently under pressure
Familiarity with workshop operations and terminology
Desirable:
Mercedes-Benz certification or dealership experience
Familiarity with diagnostic tools and software
