Smokefree Policy

Purpose
This policy has been developed to protect all employees, service users, customers and visitors from exposure to second hand smoke and to assist compliance with the Health Act 2006.

Policy
It is the policy of Midlands Truck & Van that all workplaces are smokefree, and all employees have a right to work in a smokefree environment. Smoking is prohibited in all enclosed and substantially enclosed premises in the workplace. This includes Company vehicles. This policy applies to all employees, consultants, contractors, customers or members and visitors.

Implementation & Monitoring
Overall responsibility for policy review rests with the Managing Director, however all staff are obliged to adhere to, and support the policy. All existing employees, consultants and contractors shall be informed of the policy and their role in monitoring of the policy. They will also give all new personnel a copy of the policy on recruitment / induction.

Appropriate “No Smoking” signs are clearly displayed at the entrances to and within the premises and in all smokefree vehicles.

This policy applies to electronic devices, vape devices &/or similar products.

Non-Compliance
Local disciplinary procedures will be followed if a member of staff does not comply with this policy. Those who do not comply with the smokefree law may also be liable to a fixed penalty fine and possible criminal prosecution.

Smoking Area’s
All Midlands Truck & Van Limited locations have a designated smoking areas for use by employees and any visitors to the site who smoke. These areas are the only areas where employees and any visitors to site are permitted to smoke on site.

If you are unsure where these are located please speak with the service/location managers.

I would also like to remind you that you should only smoke during your allotted breaks. Thank you for your co-operation.
