Meet the Team: Thomas Holland, Regional Parts Manager

With more than 20 years of experience working with the Mercedes-Benz brand, Thomas Holland brings a wealth of knowledge, leadership and industry expertise to his role as Regional Parts Manager at Midlands Truck & Van. Having progressed through the business from apprentice to senior management, Tom is passionate about supporting his teams, developing people and ensuring customers receive the highest level of service.

We sat down with Tom to learn more about his career journey, what drives him and how the parts department plays a vital role in keeping customers moving.

Where did your career begin and how?

My career began in 2006 when I joined H&L Garages as a Parts Apprentice.

I've been working within the Mercedes-Benz network for over 20 years and have experience across a variety of roles, including working within the Mercedes-Benz passenger car network, before progressing through Parts Manager, Assistant Group Parts Manager and Group Parts Manager positions, spending the last six years with Midlands Truck & Van.

The Mercedes-Benz brand has always appealed to me because of its reputation, innovation and quality. Once I started working within the industry, I quickly realised it was a sector that offered excellent opportunities for development and progression.

Can you tell us a little about your role as Regional Parts Manager?

As Regional Parts Manager, I work alongside James Carolan to oversee parts operations across all eight Midlands Truck & Van locations. My role involves supporting our parts teams, developing customer relationships, helping drive business growth and ensuring we continue to deliver excellent service across the region.

What does a typical day look like for you?

No two days are ever the same which keeps it interesting. A large part of my role involves providing support to our parts teams across the region and our eight branches. I spend a lot of time travelling between our locations, meeting personally with our customers and working closely with key accounts throughout England.

What do you enjoy most about working at Midlands truck & Van?

For me, it's all about the people. Building relationships with both colleagues and customers is what makes the job so rewarding, and being part of such an amazing team here at Midlands makes every day enjoyable.

I've always loved being part of the Mercedes-Benz brand and working alongside teams who are passionate about what they do.

What makes a great parts team?

A great parts team is built on attitude, teamwork and communication. Everyone needs to be working towards the same goals, understanding their roles and responsibilities, and supporting one another to achieve the best possible outcomes for our customers. What makes our Midlands Truck & Van team so special is the years of combined experience and expertise in the industry and specifically the Mercedes-Benz brand.

What keeps you passionate about the industry?

The industry never stands still. Mercedes-Benz continues to innovate and develop new vehicle technologies, which means there's always something new to learn, and always additional training opportunities available through Midlands Truck & Van.

One of the most noticeable trends throughout my career has been the continued growth of Mercedes-Benz vehicles on UK roads, which reflects the strength of the brand and the confidence customers place in our products. Being involved in that journey and seeing how the industry evolves keeps the role exciting and rewarding.
